Hi,
I’m Lisa W. Degregorio. Talking to you is a sewing enthusiast who has grown up as a sewing artist in an environment where this art has a special place in our life.
Sewing and stitching has fascinated me ever since I was a child. I grew up watching my mother stitching Christmas clothes for us and our uniforms were never bought from the market my mom did it all. I was amazed how she would convert a simple piece of cloth into a meaningful, wearable creation. My passion for stitching intrigued me to stitch my first piece of cloth at the age of sixteen; I stitched my very first shirt, I was in complete awe, but it was just a beginning…I took up stitching as a hobby from thereon and kept learning from my mother all the different stitching tips and tricks.
After my graduation, I took a diploma course on stitching and sewing and it helped me to gain a lot of insight and experience of the art of stitching. This course enlightened me with several important aspects of stitching and I became more confident and passionate about my stitching practice. As a young married wife, I wanted to give a makeover to my house and make it warm and appealing. I decided to stitch all the decorative items on my own and hence I took up my first major stitching project. This was one of the most pleasing and gratifying experiences I have ever had…I simply loved my work and every new item I created gave me a deep sense of satisfaction and achievement.
I learned a lot of things during my stitching endeavors and would love to share it here with you guys. The most important aspect of stitching is a thorough knowledge of your stitching machine; you must be aware of all the components of your stitching machine, what are they called and what their purpose is. All machines today come with a variety of stitch designs and you must learn and play around with each type of stitch design before applying it to your actual fabric. There are several adjustments that you can make with your stitch designs and get amazing results. Balancing between the stitch and the thread tension is also an important aspect of stitching and if done right, it ensures quality stitches. If your stitches are often distorted or your needle breaks frequently, you must make necessary adjustments to your stitching machine so as to ensure quality stitching.
All of the above mentioned techniques and a lot more has been discussed in detail on my website. This information will give an insight into the stitching process and help you stitch great quality clothes that don’t tear out so easily. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, you will find great tips and help from my website.
